Izaak Walton, English biographer and author, gives a short account of George Herbert’s Life. Herbert had a diverse career. Not only is he one of the great English poets of the seventeenth century, but he also served as public orator for Cambridge and as the parliamentary representative for Montgomery. He was eventually ordained a priest and served as a rector in Bremerton. His religious devotion is reflected in many of his poems.
